this past week, the team that i work with at church held a leadership summit. we had close to a 100 leaders of small groups attend. i forget sometimes how much i enjoy putting an event together. the theme was spring (yes, i live in the southern hemisphere!) and it all turned out quite beautifully.

these three beautiful girls (we attend the same small group) came to help out with laying out the supper and cleaning up afterwards. they are incredible!

and this is a picture of some of our growth group. it's not everyone, but it's a lot of us. they are incredible people and fast becoming incredible friends. they are making me fall in love more in australia!

the weekend away to wilson's prom was unreal.

wilson's prom is probably the most secluded place i've ever been to. for most of my life, i've thought in millions. in people that is. and to have a chance to camp where no one else existed was incredible. it was cold (wind chill of 7C/44F and winds were blowing up to 87km/hr or 54 miles/hr), but i survived. i have to say, my arm socks pulled through.

here are some shots of the beaches we passed during our 7k hike.

there were actually people involved in this trip too. though i have to admit, most of my time (apart of from feeling frost bitten) was spent oohing and aahing over the ocean. make sure to take special notice of how sporty i look. i reckon i look pretty convincing!

and we saw a wombat on our hike. i had never seen a wombat before. my synopsis of the way it looks= a walking koala. it seemed friendly enough. i considered, for a split second, throwing my pack on it and seeing if it would carry my bag the rest of the way. i opted not to.

this weekend has made me fall in love even more with nature, the ocean, and even the camping experience. i'm hoping there are many more ahead of me.

arm socks.

devi and i leave in about six hours for a 2 day camping trip with some friends to wilson's prom, which is the southern most tip of australia's mainland. basically beautiful beaches and more beautiful beaches.

i know i'll post a heap more when i get back, but just felt like this arfternoon's purchase merited its own post.

devi and i went shopping for some winter supplies (even though it's spring in melbourne, the weekend is supposed to be extra chilly). we were successful in finding some gloves by about the sixth store we went to. and i found a discovery to beat all discoveries. arm socks. yup. arm socks. they are gloves and socks combined. arm socks. my entire hand up to my elbow is going to be really warm while camping. mmmmm. arm socks.

tulip festival.

i went with my friend yi tinn to the melbourne tulip festival today. there were rows and rows of tulips.

red ones.
yellow ones.
purple ones
pink ones.
and multi-coloured ones.

beautiful.

yi tinn took a heap of pictures on a much nicer camera. i'll try to get a hold of those and post them on here.

life now.

i'm not really sure if people are still reading this. but my last entry was posted three months ago. and that just doesn't seem right.

a lot has happened the past few months. i had some great friends visit over the month of july. i took off work for the majority of that time and was able to relax and breathe more. my time with krisin, sar, ames, and jess was beautiful. and i now find myself checking tickets to america a little too frequently for my bank account's benefit.

at the end of july, i was approached by a pastor at my church. he was interested in talking to me about a position that had opened up in the growth groups department (i go to a big church...so yes, there's a growth groups department). long story short, one month later, i was offered the job. i now work for crossway. the past month of work has been challenging and fulfilling. i am thankful. i also have fridays off. have i mentioned that i'm thankful? it means less money, but i have time to breathe again.

two weekends ago, our growth group went away for the weekend. we watched some cricket, played some backyard cricket, and had a bbq. i think they're making me more aussie.

life is good. not over the top. just really normal and good.

i'm thankful for that.
